Doug Forseth, Senior Vice President, Operations, Intrawest at Whistler Blackcomb

After enjoying a 24-year career with Hyatt Hotels, Doug began his career in the ski industry in 1994 when he was selected as President of Whistler Mountain Ski Corporation.  Shortly after, he played a key role in the merger of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains in 1997.  In his current position as Senior Vice President, Operations for Whistler Blackcomb his areas of responsibility include Mountain Operations, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Human Resources, Environmental Resources and Mountain Planning. 

Over the years, Doug has contributed greatly to the success of Whistler Blackcomb which has been repeatedly recognised as the #1 ski resort in North America.  Most recently, the resort has strengthened its product leadership position with the construction of the record-breaking PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, for which Doug led the project management.  This winter season Whistler will realize its Olympic Dream and Doug has contributed to that effort by participating on the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Bid Board of Directors and acting as Whistler Blackcomb’s chief liaison with VANOC throughout the planning process for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. 

Doug is also a champion for the Whistler community and the ski industry as a whole.  He is an active member of One Whistler, two Whistler 2020 Task Forces and the Whistler Rotary Club.  He stands as Past Chair of the Canada West Ski Area Association Board of Directors and serves as a member of the board for the Whistler Centre for Sustainability and the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation.  In 2004, Doug was named “Business Person of the Year” by the Whistler Chamber of Commerce.
